Sacred garden of the Coricancha temple. Spanish chroniclers describe it as a garden of golden plants with leaves of beaten gold, stems of silver, solid gold corn-cobs and 20 life-size llamas and their herders all in solid gold. Also many other animals like colibris, snakes, butterflies and even spiders formed a detailed garden of gold and silver. Gold was considered the "sweat pearls of the sun" and silver the "tears of the moon".🌞🌚

The Pachacutec Monument in Cusco includes a small museum and you can enjoy the view from above.
Pachacutec transformed the Kingdom of Cusco into the Inca Empire. He is probably the most popular Inca and you will find portraits throughout the country.

My last day in Cusco was spent exploring the museums included in the tourist ticket. Almost by chance I came past the Centro Qosqo de Arte Nativo. What luck! Spontaneously, I lined up in the queue. I didn't know what to expect. Beside me in the queue an older man spoke to me. As a Swiss, he was able to talk to me in German. When we introduced ourselves by name, there was some confusion because we both are called Freddy. 😅

We enjoyed the one-hour dance performance together and had a very interesting conversation. He's married to a Peruvian for 9 years and told me a lot about country and people.

Many huacas (holy places) were based on naturally occurring rock formations. It was believed to be a place where sacrifices and mummification took place. You can go through the caves and let your imagination run wild!
