🌎💔 The current world situation is weighing on Vincent’s little plush head. He is just a little stuffed animal and can't do anything.

✨️ Even if Vincent is just a little plush, he still matters! Maybe he can bring comfort to someone, even if it's just by being there. The world can be overwhelming, but small kindnesses, like a soft plush to hug, can make a difference. Maybe his role is just to be a reminder that love and care still exist.

Little Vincent doesn't even try to think about becoming independent ❤️🤭

A man in his fourth decade who cherishes his stuffed animal and carries it playfully in his heart may embody a deeper form of maturity (one rooted in self-care and appreciation) than someone who seeks importance in the lives of others out of self-interest, creating dependencies to secure personal advantages. This latter behavior reflects an infantile craving for the metaphorical milk of gratitude, masked as maturity.

🍼🎖

This contrast highlights the tension between external expectations and internal realities. It does not suggest that all who care for others do so selfishly, nor that every adult who finds joy in a stuffed animal embodies a higher wisdom. Rather, it exposes the superficiality of rigid stereotypes and quick judgments, inviting a more nuanced reflection on what it truly means to grow.

🌱🍂

Another example: What age were you thinking of when I spoke of the fourth decade? In fact, the first decade begins at birth. The probability that you thought of me as 10 years older is very high because few people think in such a nuanced and attentive way.

🤓🔢🤯

Furthermore, does maturity have something to do with the active effort to look behind the facade?

⁉️ 🧱 👥

True maturity involves a conscious effort to see beyond surface-level appearances, judgments, and assumptions. It requires recognizing the difference between what’s projected outwardly and what’s actually going on beneath the surface. This deeper awareness allows for empathy, understanding, and the ability to navigate the world with wisdom. It’s not just about understanding yourself, but also seeing others for who they really are, not just as they present themselves to the world.

🦚🪶🐦‍⬛

The first impulse can be important, but the decision to question it and learn more is the key to a deeper understanding.

🦬🦥 Why do I shave a yak? Because you humans bore me to death! – Just kidding! 🙃

🙋 The real reason behind the endless distractions isn’t boredom—it’s ADHD. Yak shaving, the term for getting caught up in small tasks before addressing the main goal, is something many with ADHD know well. It’s not a quirky habit, but how the ADHD brain works.

🕰 For someone with ADHD, even a simple task can spiral. You start cleaning your desk, notice a broken drawer, and decide to fix it. To do that, you need a screwdriver, but the toolbox is a mess, so you begin reorganizing it. Hours pass, and the desk is still cluttered. This is yak shaving: getting sidetracked by seemingly urgent tasks that pull you further from the original goal.

🧠 This happens because the ADHD brain craves novelty and stimulation, making it hard to prioritize long-term goals. While some romanticize yak shaving as a creative process, it’s mostly just a distraction. It’s not a superpower, nor a failure—just a reality of ADHD.

📆 Managing yak shaving isn’t about avoiding distractions, but staying focused on what matters. Writing down your goal, using a timer, and keeping visual reminders can help anchor your focus. When you drift, don’t beat yourself up—just redirect your attention.

🛤 Yak shaving isn’t a whimsical adventure or failure; it’s part of ADHD. With humor and practical strategies, you can navigate distractions and make progress. The goal isn’t to stop yak shaving, but to approach it with patience, so it doesn’t derail you. After all, whether or not the yak gets shaved, the key is to keep moving forward.

🍫 Chocolate and Coal

🌈🦥✨️ People who display behavior or performance that is inexplicable from your perspective still deserve the usual respect, regardless of the lack of an explanation.

🏗🧱🏁 If I haven't said anything about something, there's no need to make anything up about it.

🗣📢🏘 But now I have potentially informed my entire town.

🧪🦥🔜🐗 Slander works by spreading lies that, combined with inexplicable peculiarities, create an apparently coherent picture. However, these falsehoods often do not lead to a discussion with the slandered person but rather to changes in behavior.

🙀💬🤨 Confrontation is unpleasant, after all, and people generally avoid it by talking behind someone's back instead. You only notice it through strange comments and odd behavior, which are explained with so-called secret knowledge (people become condescending and mysterious, or even aggressive when you ask how they came to that conclusion, or they reply with "everyone knows").

😖🤝🤨

Everyone is greeted normally, but I get a pause:

"I don't know how to greet you?" - "No idea, maybe you can do a handstand?"

✨️🤸🏘

I simply have ADHD and am treated like a severe case of autism (I am denied basic skills).

🎲🃏👾 However, anyone who still dares to speak about me in this way now risks encountering people who are already informed. Because either they know me – in which case the question arises why they are speaking about me in such a manner – or they don’t know me – in which case the same question arises.

💪🧠🌈 The problem with these people is that they don’t understand how confidently I have integrated my neurological condition into my identity and that I never have an issue talking about my weaknesses—at least the real ones.

🤴👸🦄 This challenges their proud expectations, which they have in that seemingly superior moment, and apparently, such things easily turn into underhanded nastiness.

🪷🤽‍♂️🏐 No one needs to tell me the phrase "don’t listen to what others say". That’s immature and dismisses my experiences and my right to live in a neighborhood where I receive the usual respect and decency, just like any other person.

Sloths are known for their extreme slowness and calmness, while ADHD is associated with hyperactivity, restlessness and impulsivity. The idea that an animal notorious for its laid-back lifestyle is suddenly agitated or overactive creates a comical discrepancy. I enjoy living out opposites and being unique. You could say I'm possibly the fastest sloth in town. In fact, I have the ADHD mixed type.

ADHD can be broken down as follows:

🦦 1. Predominantly Inattentive Type:

Often still referred to as ADD (though this is an outdated term).

Symptoms include difficulty sustaining attention, forgetfulness, and being easily distracted, often without hyperactive or impulsive behavior.

🐒 2. Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Type:

Marked by excessive energy, restlessness, impulsivity, and difficulty sitting still or staying quiet.

🦥 3. Combined Type (Mixed ADHD):

This includes significant symptoms of both inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity.

🎨 ADHD Combined Type means a person can experience both patterns simultaneously or in cycles. For instance:

👾 One moment, you might feel a burst of energy that makes you restless and impulsive. The next, you could find yourself daydreaming or struggling to follow through on tasks due to lack of focus.

👾 You may start a task with high energy but then lose track of details or find it hard to finish because your attention shifts elsewhere.

⭐️ Hyperactivity might mean you're full of energy and enthusiasm, helping you tackle challenges with gusto (even if it's sometimes hard to sit still).

⭐️ Inattention might look like zoning out, but it can also mean you're incredibly creative, with a mind that makes unexpected and original connections.

⭐️ Impulsivity might cause struggles with planning, but it can also make you adventurous and spontaneous, willing to dive into new experiences.

I am a great ape! 🐵🍌

Even in my childhood I was interested in the systematic classification of living things. I was given a set of a few thousand information cards. There was a picture on the front and information on the back. There was also a large index card box. I sorted all living things according to their relationship. Humans and their ancestors were listed in a separate family, which was next to the great apes. However, this made no sense to me. The fact that chimpanzees are more closely related to humans than to orangutans told me that they must at least be in the same family, or each should have their own family.

When I was at school, humans were not considered great apes. The idea that humans are just apes is still met with a lot of rejection today. But not in science, where, based on genetic research, humans are listed in a common family, the great apes (Hominidae), together with the orangutan, gorilla and chimpanzee species.

Many people, even those who are inclined towards scientific explanations of evolution, have a problem with this because they see it as a threat to the uniqueness and specialness of humans.

I often argued with my mother that humans are animals. She - who studied biology - was strictly against this. She said that humans have unique characteristics and abilities and that the mind is something that separates us from animals. A widely held view - still today. I do not share this. Humans are animals and, like every animal species, humans have special abilities. The mental abilities that were once only attributed to humans have long been observed in other animal species - albeit in different ways: self-knowledge, logic, language, culture, grief and more. But the idea that animals are similar to us in their perception and thinking is a tough pill for humanity to swallow.

Box tree moth,
Cydalima perspectalis

Native to Asia, it has been invading Europe since the 2000s and increasingly the United States in recent years. It has no natural enemies in Europe and has already contributed to the loss of entire forest areas. The caterpillars are poisonous. In its homeland in Asia, the Asian hornet is a natural predator. Although the Asian hornet is also spreading more and more in Europe, this is also a problem, because the Asian hornet also hunts bees and the European bees are not as defensive as the Asian bees.

The appearance and disappearance of individual species can have far-reaching consequences not only for wildlife but also for human livelihoods.
