In 2018 I backpacked through Peru alone. My trip started in Lima, the capital, and then traveled to Paracas in the Atacama Desert and the Islas Ballestas. After a few days I traveled on to Cusco, the Inca capital, with a stopover in Ica. I then stayed in the Cusco region for about two weeks and visited the Sacred Valley of the Incas and Machu Piccu. It was a breathtaking journey, with unforgettable impressions and warm encounters.

Chinchero is located in the sacred valley northwest of Cusco in Peru.
In the church, which was built on Inca ruins, the Mass is held today in Quechua. This place combines Christian colonialism with Inca culture. It was a very beautiful and colorful stay, not least because of the great alpaca textiles and the smiling people.

The loveliest place I found in Peru is Santa Teresa. It's a few kilometers away from Machu Picchu. There I relaxed so much!
In my opinion the hot wells aren't as good as in Aguas Calientes (too many tourists and less security for your stuff). But the village is so beautiful! I just sat at the main place, listened to traditional music, watched how the children were dancing and got involved in some nice conversations.
