It's not finished yet. Maybe never will.
I'm furry, so no need to hurry. I paint for over 2 years on the picture. Recently I sat for about 10 hours again. It's gouache tempera on canvas (20x20cm). It means a lot to me, because I always wanted to paint a very detailed picture. I haven't painted many pictures yet. A few, but without satisfying me. The title is "Terrarium Snake and Monarch Butterfly". It describes my self-image, along with hurdles and desires that shape me. Every now and then I show you the progress.

I took many blurry photos during my travel through Peru. I think they are somehow magical. This seemingly unreal grassland somewhere in the Peruvian Andes hides an equally magical secret. Do you see the cave? Take a close look! Do you see this bear-like creature secretly leaping out of the darkness? Ground sloth! The legendary Mapinguari! These mighty creatures, who dug impressive caves, are considered extinct. To this day, they are part of legends of the indigenous people. Their skin was riddled with bone plates and with their huge claws they were serious opponents. To be honest, I just added a small white dot to make it look like an animal. Don't believe everything! But thanks for the attention! 😜

🕸🕷 Tag your friend for a HAPPY HALLOWEEN surprise!👿

Great house spider, Eratigena atrica 🕷💕
When someone asks me to identify a spider, it's usually the great house spider. With a size of up to 2 cm, it's the largest spider found in German houses. It's pretty nimble: 50 cm per second! The bite can cause a light swelling, but they don't bite without being provoked. By the way, the wasp spider is even bigger than the great house spider (up to 2.5 cm). But those can only be found in nature.

🌸🚁 Marmalade hoverfly (male),
Episyrphus balteatus
(06/2019 in Oberursel, Germany)

Marmalade hoverflies always follow the nice weather! 🌞 This species belongs to the migratory insects and forms dense seasonal swarms. In autumn, these travel from Central Europe to the Mediterranean region (vice versa in spring). The hoverflies cross the passes of the low mountain ranges, the Pyrenees and the Alps! 👍🐝

Barramunda / Australian lungfish
(Neoceratodus forsteri) in the Frankfurt Zoological Garden.

There are 6 species of lungfish in the world, of which the Australian is the most primitive. The lungfish morphology has hardly changed in the last 100 million years and therefore, like the closely related coelacanths, are considered living fossils.

Genetic studies, as well as the skull structure, the arrangement and shape of the fins, the approach of separation of oxygen-rich blood from the lungs and oxygen-poor blood from the body, suggest a close relationship to the tetrapods, to which we also belong.

Netherless, the lungfish aren't considered our ancestors, but are closely related to them.

Mata mata! 😄🐢
A nocturnal freshwater turtle that is found mainly in the Amazon and Orinoco basins. There it prefers shallow waters, where it remains motionless until a fish comes close. Only small fish are eaten by creating a vacuum that sucks the prey into its mouth. The fish is swallowed whole, the structure of the mouth makes it impossible to chew.
