While people argue...✨💛🖤✨

Sun beetle (Pachnoda marginata peregrina) and Zophobas (Zophobas morio).

When I see them like this, I wonder what's going on in their heads.

How do others perceive the world? You never know. This applies to other people as well as to animals. The more egocentric you are, the more inclined you are to draw conclusions about others. But consciousness is one of the greatest mysteries. The fact that you cannot immerse yourself in the world of experiences of others is called qualia.

Qualia refer to the subjective, individual experiences of sensory perceptions and consciousness.

Qualia are inherently personal and cannot be fully communicated or understood by others.

This means there is no way of knowing what exactly is going on inside these cuties.

I suspect these beetles are trying to understand each other. At least their intentions. That's why they touch each other with their feelers.

But maybe it feels especially good when they do that. Similar to when people touch each other tenderly.

My parents always encouraged me to capture animals. On the premise of releasing them exactly where I found them. I honestly can't tell if that's right or wrong.

On the one hand, children should be taught early on to respect animals and to leave them alone. I stressed the animals, frightened them and also approached potentially dangerous animals.

On the other hand, I was able to follow an instinct that is millions of years old and have developed a strong connection with nature.

If an animal was nearby, I felt a tingling sensation before I consciously perceived it with my other senses. Incidentally, Steve Irwin also reported on this feeling in an episode.

However, as an adult I would no longer harass animals unnecessarily. If I ever become a father, I have to ask myself how I want to bring up my child.

The frog sitting there on my hand is probably a Sahara frog (Pelophylax saharicus). I can say with certainty that it is a male. During the mating season, these have dark and thickened thumbs to hold on to the females.

Biting Ladybug! Yes, I got bitten on the arm by a ladybug and it pinched a little! 🐞🤕

I last had a similar experience when I was six years old, when a ladybug bit me painfully in my best part.😅🤭

Until now I wasn't sure if the ladybug bit me or if its defensive secretion caused the pain. But it was definitely a bite both times.

🔍 So I did some research and it is actually known that the Asian ladybug (Harmonia axyridis) bites people from time to time. They do this from a lack of food or fluids. Allergic reactions are possible but very rare. It's very dry here at the moment because it's very warm and it rarely rains.

However, when I was bitten in 1992, the Asian ladybug had not yet been documented in the wild in Germany. The first record of free-ranging Asian ladybugs in Europe was in Belgium in 2001.

In the meantime, one finds almost exclusively Asian ladybugs (images 1 and 2).

⚠️ Two-spot ladybugs (images 3 and 4) and other native ladybug species are now classified as highly endangered.

This two-spot ladybug (Adalia bipunctata) got lost in my room yesterday. It is a rare color variant, found in 15 percent of the species. Two-spotted ladybugs are usually red with a black spot on each elytra. The black variant is black, with two to three red spots per elytra.

Banana Joe passed away last year, but in 2017 he became a father to five girls. The photo shows three of them when they were about a year old. I sold all of them except for Nameless (not on the picture). It is impossible to say who the mothers are, but you can clearly see the Banana Joe part in the shape of their heads. After hatching, all five had the same typical Mack Snow pattern (black and white instead of black and yellow stripes). It should be noted that reptiles are able to store sperm for a very long time, but this paternity is pretty clear.

Beautiful shiny hoverfly!✨🐝

I suspect it is a Melanostoma species. Pretty sure a male.

The distance between the eyes of hoverflies is always narrower in males than in females.👀

Their larvae eat aphids and the adults feed on flower nectar and pollen.🌺🌼🌸

📊 Around 48,000 animal species have been identified in Germany, including over 33,000 insect species. Insects make up around 70 percent of all animal species in Germany.

If insects can feel joy, what a wonderful world.🌺🐝

At least there are experiments that suggest something like fun in insects. For example, bumblebees like to play bumblebee ball.🏀🐝

But there are also observations in many other animal species.🐟🐸🐌🐎🦜

I like the idea of happy insects buzzing around.

Common flesh fly 🥩
(Sarcophaga species)

It is almost impossible to tell the species apart by their outward appearance, and many can only be reliably identified by microscopic examination of the males' genitals.🔬🔍

In Germany, the gray flesh fly (Sarcophaga carnaria) is particularly common. There are various reports on the diet of adult flies from flower nectar, honeydew and the fluids that form on dung and carrion. The different information may be due to the difficulty in identifying the species. There is also different information about the larvae. Some species lay the larvae on carcasses and dung, others on earthworm entrances, and the parasitic larvae then crawl into the earthworm to develop inside. Some species use snails and other animals as hosts.🐌

Humans can also be infected by some species, such as Sarcophaga barbata. The human larval infestation is called myasis and occurs mainly in tropical or subtropical regions.🤕
