Just rediscovered one of my Deepdream experiments from 2015.😁

DeepDream is an open-source computer vision program created by Google engineer Alexander Mordvintsev which uses a convolutional neural network to find and enhance patterns in images via algorithmic pareidolia, thus creating a dream-like hallucinogenic appearance in the deliberately over-processed images. ⠀
⠀

Pareidolia is the tendency for incorrect perception of a stimulus as an object, pattern or meaning known to the observer, such as seeing shapes in clouds, seeing faces in inanimate objects or abstract patterns, or hearing hidden messages in music.

Are the zoos or even public swimming pools open for you?
Most of our zoos in Germany are open since the beginning of May.
Now I have read that the swimming pools are reopening too.

Incidentally, these are Humboldt penguins. The same species that I saw in the wild in Peru (Islas Ballestas).💙

Kalusho is the only black rhino at Frankfurt Zoo.
His female companion Tsororo died of a complication of the uterus in 2016.
Together they had three daughters. All of their daughters were released into the wild in Africa.
The eldest daughter Akura became a grandmother four years ago in the Marakele National Park.


Kalusho, now 33 years old and originally from Zimbabwe,
should actually be released together with Tsororo 8 years ago.
However, it failed.


For most of the 20th century the continental black rhino was the most numerous of all rhino species.
Around 1900 there were probably several hundred thousand living in Africa.
In the early 1990s the number dipped below 2,500, and in 2004 it was reported that only 2,410 black rhinos remained.
By 2019 the population of 5,500 was either steady or slowly increasing.

Loki is the first at the waterhole. Her mother Arsinoë watches her and waits. Then Berenike comes sneaking in from behind and takes the coveted place.😜 Keeping in groups is a very special topic in leopard geckos. I wouldn't advise beginners!

In German literature, group housing is often recommended. But that's based on misunderstandings.

Leopard geckos are most often loners in nature. But there are also huge aggregations, in particularly suitable places.

In some cases, they already show signs of social behaviour, such as gaze following. But they also can be very brutal! You have to offer them plenty of space and hiding places and analyse their behaviour. It's very interesting!

In this video you can see that the geckos have a clear relationship to each other. If this were not the case, they would now vibrate with their tails. And then possibly make a small exchange of blows, or get along immediately. Every now and then this has to be clarified.💕
