I'm taking the train to my girlfriend. 😎💕

About half of my four-hour journey is between Mainz and Remagen along the Middle Rhine.

Misty vineyards, castles and small islands. 🥰

I particularly like the Bacharacher Werth (island) with its surrounding shallows. The train also passes the legendary Loreley, but I am already enchanted and stay on track.

Happy Seven Sleepers!

The Seven Sleepers is a medieval legend about a group of youths who hid inside a cave outside the city of Ephesus around AD 250 to escape one of the Roman persecutions of Christians and emerged some 300 years later.

🌥️ A weather lore says:
"The weather today will remain the same for seven more weeks."

It has a kernel of truth. From the end of June to the beginning of July, the weather conditions usually stabilize. Actually, the Seven Sleepers Day is on July 7th, if you transfer it to today's calendar. In southern Germany, where the rule seems to be originated, for the first week of July, it has an accuracy of about 70 percent.

Thursday evening after the first of two windstorms calmed down. The weather was really nice for a moment. Evening after evening the sunset approaches the Taunus Mountains. Its glow is already touching the Altkönig ("Old King"). Shortly after taking this photo, hailstones started penetrating the sensitive tip of my sloth nose. Can't await summer!

There's a very stable population of this invasive species along the Nidda river.
It's not good to pet or feed them. They can get pushy, but don't give in! It harms nature. Water pollution is increasing and native species are endangered. Children can be bitten. Just enjoy it as long as it's here.❤️
